Afghan, China authorities discuss construction of Wakhan Corridor 

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MoRRD), Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhund said that the construction of the Wakhan Corridor is not only beneficial to China and Afghanistan but also connects Beijing to Central Asian countries through a shorter route, the ministry said in a statement.

He made the remarks during a meeting with the Chinese ambassador to Afghanistan, Zhao Sheng, here in Kabul on Tuesday.

Mullah Mohammad Yunus Akhund stated that preliminary work on the road up to the China border has been completed by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

Meanwhile, Zhao Shen Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan, assured his country’s cooperation in implementing development projects.

China is one of the world’s major economic powers and has had extensive relations with Afghanistan following the establishment of the Islamic Emirate.
