UNICEF provides groundwater monitoring systems and water testing chemicals to Afghanistan

KABUL: The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) provided 100 units of groundwater monitoring equipment and seven types of water testing chemicals, the Ministry of Water and Energy said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, by using the provided equipment, engineers of the Ministry of Water and Energy can monitor the groundwater situation along the river basins in the country.

“The provided equipment automatically records fluctuations in groundwater levels, enabling the Ministry of Water and Energy to have online access to information related to changes in the water resources,” said the statement.

Additionally, the ministry will use the provided chemicals in its laboratories to determine water quality.

UNICEF is one of the United Nations agencies that has implemented numerous drinking water and sanitation projects after the Islamic Emirate takeover.
