JALALABAD: The Deputy Special Representative in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, Indrika Ratwatte, in a meeting with Saeed Ahmad Benoori, the deputy governor of Nangarhar stated that the United Nations will provide fundamental and sustainable care for returning Afghan migrants.
In the meeting, the Deputy Representative of UNAMA informed about the United Nations’ efforts to persuade the Pakistani government to halt the forced deportation of Afghan migrants.
Ratwatte praised the efforts of the Islamic Emirate officials in managing the return of migrants.
The deputy governor of Nangarhar, Saeed Ahmad Benoori, asked for the increase of the United Nations’ assistance amount to returning Afghan migrants.
Also, he called on the Ratwatte for cooperation in facilitating the transfer of returning migrants to their original locations and providing support to unregistered returnees. The majority of deported migrants from Pakistan will be transferred to the Omari camp in Nangarhar and then they will be relocated to their original locations.
