Eradicating polio IEA’s priority, Mawlavi Muttaqi

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, in a meeting, with a high-ranking delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), discussed polio eradication and Afghanistan’s relations with other countries in health sector, the ministry said in a statement.

Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi said that education, health, humanitarian aid, and economic issues should not be linked to politics, according to the statement.

Eradicating polio is in the top priority of the Islamic Emirates, he said adding that we are ready to jointly work with Pakistan in health dialogue.

Minister Muttaqi emphasized that the United Nations should accept an Afghan representative in the World Health Organization to help the world get a true picture of Afghanistan’s health.
Representatives of WHO said that they working on a plan to pave the way for the Afghanistan and Pakistan ‘ health dialogue’, and the Foreign Ministers of both countries will lead the dialogue, according to the statement.
