Practical work on extraction of Aynak copper mine to begin shortly

KABUL: Spokesman of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Hamayoun Afghan said on his X account on Monday that the practical work on the extraction of the Aynak copper mine in Logar province is set to begin this weekend.

According to him, the practical extraction of the Aynak copper mine is set to begin after 15 years.

“The contracted company has been obligated to carry out 100% of the processing of the extracted minerals inside the country, based on the 2008 contract,” he said.

He emphasized that the contracted company has also been obligated to commence the extraction of the world’s largest copper mine (Aynak mine) without any hindrance or delay by the end of this week.

It is worth mentioning that the Aynak copper mine in Logar is the largest in the world.
