KABUL: A carpentry market in the center of Maidan Shar, the capital of Wardak, caught fire, the Information and Culture Department of Maidan Wardak said in a statement on Sunday.
According to the statement, the fire started at 1:00 PM and lasted for two and a half hours.
“Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and, through persistent efforts, managed to control the fire and prevent its spread,” said the statement adding that 18 shops were burned, inflected around 1.8 million Afghanis loses to the shopkeepers.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
