KABUL: Afghanistan exported goods worth $667.3 million in the first six months of the current year, the Afghanistan National Statistic and Information Authority (NSIA) said in a statement.
Afghanistan’s exports reached $720.9 million in the same period last year which shows a decrease of $53.6 million.
“In the first six months of the previous year, the value of imports reached $4.5 billion, this year, there has been an increase of $1.2 billion in imports during the same period,” said the statement.
According to the statement, fresh and dried fruits worth $167.1 million were exported in the first two quarters of this year. Also, medicinal herbs, minerals, and vegetables ranked second, third, and fourth with values of $119.7 million, $85.8 million, and $66.4 million, respectively.
“The largest imports included petroleum products and pharmaceuticals, valued at $991.5 million. Following this, machinery, transport equipment, and spare parts accounted for $772 million, while wheat and wheat flour were valued at $261.5 million, and textiles stood at $229.9 million,” said the statement.
