KABUL: In response to ongoing warnings of Pakistani officials regarding the presence of Afghan citizens in protests in Islamabad, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan embassy, in a statement, said Saturday night that Afghans are not involved in any political games in Pakistan.
“The repeated warnings from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, which have linked Afghan citizens to recent protests, are merely pretexts for harassment,” the statement said, noting that such statements have caused anxiety and concern among Afghan citizens in Pakistan.
The Afghan embassy in Islamabad stressed that Afghans do not participate in any political activities in the country and are not involved in any crimes; rather, they seek a peaceful environment in Pakistan.
Expressing concern over recent remarks by Pakistani officials, the embassy urged the Pakistani government not to create an atmosphere of distrust for Afghan migrants in the country.
According to the statement, such comments are not beneficial for Pakistan and exacerbate distrust between the two nations.
The Pakistani Interior Minister recently stated in a press conference that undocumented Afghan citizens would not be allowed to remain in Islamabad after December 11, 2024.
