KABUL: Members of the Afghan and Turkish Carpet Sellers’ Union have requested a customs exemption for their imported carpets, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, Afghan carpet sellers raised this request during a meeting with their Turkish counterparts and emphasized the importance of holding joint carpet exhibitions.
The Turkish carpet sellers have assured cooperation in this regard.
It appears that this meeting took place on the sideline of an international carpet exhibition in Turkey, where machine-made and handwoven carpets from 19 countries, including Afghanistan, were showcased in Istanbul.
