KABUL: Despite the relentless attacks by the Israeli regime over the past 15 months in Gaza, U.S. congressional members have confirmed that the Islamic Resistance Movement of Hamas has recruited thousands of new fighters during this period.
The intelligence assessments indicate Hamas has attracted between 10,000 to 15,000 new recruits while engaged in conflict with Zionist Israeli regime, Reuters quoting two U.S. Congress members stated on Friday night.
Although Hamas has not yet released official figures regarding the number of its fighters killed in the war with Israel, the report suggests that the newly recruited fighters are equivalent to the number of militants who have been martyred in the last 15 months of fighting.
For destroying the Hamas the Zionist regime has continuously bombarded Gaza with bombs and missiles, over the past 15 months.
Last week, however, the regime signed a ceasefire agreement with Hamas, indicating a shift in strategy after failing to achieve its stated objectives in Gaza.
