PUL-E-KHUMRI: A nearly 100-year-old sugar production factory after decades of delay, to resume operation in the country’s northern province of Baghlan, local officials said.
Mullah Alam Majidi, the spokesperson for the Baghlan governor, stated that the preparations for the factory’s reopening have been completed, and it is expected to soon begin producing sugar.
According to him, the factory’s land had previously been usurped, and it lacked the necessary raw materials for operation.
This factory was operational decades ago but ceased activities during the civil wars.
The Baghlan sugar production factory exclusively produces sugar from beets and is considered the only factory of its kind in the country.
