Meta agreed to pay $25 million to settle Trump lawsuit over ban

KABUL: The officials of Meta (owner of Facebook and Instagram) have agreed to pay $25 million to Donald Trump, President of the United States, media reported.

Andy Stone, a spokesperson for Meta, told media on Wednesday night that the payment is a result of the suspension of Trump’s accounts in 2020 following the attack by his supporters on the Capitol riot.

He emphasized that by making this $25 million payment, Meta will not be accused of any wrongdoing.

Of this amount, $22 million is set to go to Trump’s office, while $3 million will cover administrative costs and expenses for Trump’s supporters who filed complaints.
