KABUL: Precious and semi-precious stones of the Duab district of Nuristan province worth 30 million Afghanis have been sold.
Officials of the Mines and Petroleum Department said that the auction was conducted transparently in the presence of representatives from the Mining Directorate, the Provincial Governor’s Office, the Police Command, and intelligence agencies.
Sources added that 3 million Afghanis from the proceeds have been deposited into the government’s treasury.
Local officials stated that such transparent auctions are considered a positive step for the management of mining resources, economic development, and increasing national revenues.
