KABUL: The Road Nomination Commission was held with the Deputy Art and Culture Minister of Information and Culture Mawlavi Atiqullah Azizi, on the chair, the ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.
In the meeting, in accordance with the request of the Sar-e-Pul provincial authorities, Almas Square was renamed to Culture Square, the Women’s Affairs Square was renamed to Independence Square, the Afghani Square was renamed to Press Square and Nazargah Square was renamed to Unity Square.
Also, upon the request of the owner of the Edi Zada Township in Kunduz province, the commission members decided that if no issues arise with the legal, ownership, and utilization documents of the township, its name will be changed from Edi Zada Township to Imam Bukhari Township.
The commission has previously renamed several locations and squares across the country.
