KABUL: Officials of the Torkham Commission have confirmed that the Torkham gate has been closed to all traffic by Pakistani border forces.
Mawlavi Abdul Jabbar Hikmat, the commissioner of Torkham, stated this morning that the closure was due to the construction of posts and facilities by the forces stationed on both sides of the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He added that when his forces began their construction work, the Pakistani side acted similarly without prior notice and closed the Torkham gate.
He noted that this action by the Pakistani forces has created significant difficulties for migrants.
This is not the first time that Pakistan has closed the Torkham gate, and each closure results in serious challenges for Afghan migrants.
