KABUL: The construction work on a water supply project worth 5.2 million Afghanis has been started in the Kandahar province, providing hundreds of families with potable water, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said in a statement to Radio Omid today.
The welfare project will be built on the outskirts of the Nahr-e-Kariz village, Zheri district of Kandahar province, said the statement.
According to the ministry, the project includes drilling a 200-meter deep water well, constructing a water storage facility with a capacity of 30 cubic meters, installing nearly 100 water taps, setting up 20 solar panels, and laying 4,600 meters of pipeline.
During the implementation of the project, dozens of people will be provided with job opportunities, and 200 families will have access to safe drinking water in the province.
