Islamic Emirate toward recognition; IEA flag displayed in Uzbek PM, Mullah Baradar meeting in Tashkent

KABUL: For the first time, the government of Uzbekistan displayed the flag of the Islamic Emirate during a meeting between Abdullah Aripov, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, and Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, on Saturday in Tashkent.

According to accepted diplomatic norms, the use of a flag in official meetings signifies recognition of the other party.

In the past three years, this is the first time that Uzbekistan has showcased the official flag of the Islamic Emirate during high-level discussions between the two countries.

Following the introduction and acceptance of ambassadors and diplomats from the Islamic Emirate by various nations, this step is seen as another move towards the recognition of the Islamic Emirate.

This comes as a high-level delegation from the Islamic Emirate, led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, visited Uzbekistan recently.
