Trump: Willing to pay $2.5 billion annually to retrieve U.S. leftover equipment in Afghanistan

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he is prepared to pay between $2 billion to $2.5 billion annually to the Islamic Emirate for the return of military equipment left behind in Afghanistan.

In response, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the remaining U.S. military equipment in Afghanistan belongs to the country and the Islamic Emirate.

Previously, officials from the Islamic Emirate have asserted that the equipment left by the U.S. will not be returned under any circumstances.

They said that seized weapons are considered war spoils and rightfully belong to Afghanistan.
