Food prices increased by 3% in past month

KABUL: The National Statistics and Information Authority has reported a 3% increase in food prices during the month of Dalwa of the outgoing solar year (January-February).

“The prices of grain by 5.9%, meat by 5.4%, and sugar and sweets have increased by 5.2% in the past month of the current solar year,” said NSIA.

Also, the National Statistics and Information Authority has recorded a 2% increase in non-food items, including a 5% rise in clothing prices and a 3.4% rise in the prices of household goods.

On the other hand, the value of the Afghani against the U.S. dollar decreased during the past month, the exchange rate was 74.7 AFN to 1 USD, compared to 71.6 Afghani in Jadi (December-January), reflecting a 4.4% depreciation.
