NPC approves 27 projects worth around 3 bln Afghani

KABUL: The meeting of the National Procurement Commission (NPC) was held with the Islamic Emirate Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, on the chair, approving 27 development projects worth around 3 billion Afghani, his office said in a statement on Tuesday.

The meeting discussed 37 projects of which 27 projects were approved, 7 were amended, one was canceled and two projects were postponed due to issues in the procurement process, the statement said, instructing the relevant officials to re-submit these projects to a competitive bidding process, ensuring full adherence to procurement regulations.

The committees were assigned to review the procurement processes of the two postponed projects, taking into account the amendments made by the National Procurement Commission, and to submit their reports to the commission. The approved and modified projects included the construction of a transportation terminal in the eastern part of Kabul city, the completion of the remaining works at the Jamuriat Hospital in Kabul, the completion of the remaining works of Pashdan and Bakhshabad Dams in Herat and Farah, provinces respectively, maintenance and keeping project for Sultan Dam in Ghazni province, as well as the initiation of the detailed design project for Sultan Ibrahim Dam in Sar-e Pul province, completion of the power transmission project from Kabul to Kandahar, including the installation of electricity poles, construction of substations, and extension of transmission lines, the extension of power transmission lines from Kajaki Dam to Kandahar City, completion of remaining works in existing electricity projects in several other provinces,  and the construction of roads in various areas of the capital Kabul.
