KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his trip to Muscat, met with Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi, the deputy spokesman for the ministry Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal said in a statement on his X account.
In the meeting, both sides discussed strengthening bilateral political, economic, and social relations, expressing confidence that the Kabul-Muscat relationship will enter a new phase of cooperation.
The Acting Foreign Minister highlighted the end of decades of conflict in Afghanistan, the establishment of balanced relations with the world and the region, and the strengthening of overall security as significant achievements of the Afghan government.
He described the current conditions as an excellent opportunity for Omani traders and the Sultanate to invest.
Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi thanked the Omani side for facilitating the effective operation of Afghanistan’s embassy in Muscat.
He emphasized priorities such as providing work visas for Afghans, creating a framework for the export of Afghan goods to Oman, initiating flights between the two countries, and establishing relevant facilities.
The Omani Foreign Minister welcomed Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, stating that Oman has historically taken a positive stance towards the welfare and development of Afghanistan and aims to strengthen political, economic, and trade relations with the country.
