KABUL: The U.S. Department of Education announced yesterday (Tuesday, March 11) that it will lay off nearly half of its workforce.
The department stated that the number of employees will be reduced by approximately 2,183 individuals.
It is important to note that the total number of employees at the Department of Education currently stands at around 4,400.
This announcement comes after U.S. President Donald Trump had previously proposed the elimination of the department altogether.
