KABUL: Following eight hours of discussions between senior diplomats from Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia, Kyiv has confirmed a month-long ceasefire with Russia.
Reuters reported on Tuesday night that Ukraine has acknowledged this agreement, as stated in a joint declaration by the U.S. and Ukraine.
According to the joint statement, diplomatic officials from Washington and Kyiv also agreed to sign a contract regarding Ukraine’s rare mineral resources and their extraction by the U.S.
After this agreement, the U.S. has lifted restrictions on military aid to Ukraine and provided the country with access to satellite intelligence.
The diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations were hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
As of now, Russia has not responded to this agreement, and it remains unclear whether they will accept or reject it.
Notably, Ukraine has agreed to this ceasefire after facing significant pressure from the U.S., particularly following a tense meeting between the leaders of both countries at the White House.
