Zalmay Khalilzad accuses Pakistan of ineffectiveness and unjustified conflict in Torkham

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, a senior diplomat of the U.S. Republican Party, has accused the Pakistani government of ineffectiveness and an unjustified conflict with Afghanistan at Torkham.

In a post on X today, Khalilzad stated that violence has engulfed Pakistan, and the country’s economic situation is challenging, leading to a brain drain and increasing the risk of state collapse.

He emphasized that amid these issues, the recent hostage situation involving 400 individuals in Balochistan is particularly catastrophic.

Khalilzad urged the Pakistani government to release Imran Khan from prison as soon as possible, conduct elections, control corruption, and restore the independence of the judiciary. He warned that otherwise, the risk of the collapse of the Pakistani state looms.

Reports have indicated a rise in insecurity in various regions of Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces in recent days.
