KABUL: The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, told Radio Omid on Thursday that a contract for the construction of 2nd Phase of Wakhan road in Badakhshan province, valued at 134 million Afghanis, during a ceremony have been signed with a private company.
Speaking in the ceremony, officials of the ministry stated that the road with a length of 71 kilometers will be constructed from the budget of the Islamic Emirate.
Ministry officials emphasized the importance of expediting the construction process for this road.
It is worth mentioning that Wakhan is a remote yet strategically significant region in Badakhshan, connecting Afghanistan to China.
Previously, Phase One of the road, covering 51 kilometers, was constructed by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
