KABUL: Following the conclusion of the second round of negotiations between Iranian and U.S. diplomatic teams in Rome, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, on Saturday night reported a relatively positive atmosphere regarding progress on the principles and goals of a potential agreement.
He emphasized that while there may be cautious optimism about the negotiations, it should be approached with great care.
According to Araghchi, an expert process will begin in the coming days, focusing on the details of the discussions, after which a clearer judgment can be made.
He further stated, “We have clearly expressed that many in Iran believe the JCPOA is no longer sufficient or suitable for us. For them, the only thing that remains from that agreement is the ‘lessons learned.'”
U.S. delegations met yesterday as part of the second round of discussions concerning Iran’s nuclear program in Rome.
