Kazakhstan appoints special representative for Afghanistan

KABUL: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Erkin Tokumov as the country’s Special Representative for Afghanistan.
The reputable Kazakh online news agency “Tengrinews” reported today that in a decree the President’s office, has appointed Tokumov as Kazakhstan’s special envoy for Kabul.
Erkin Tokumov is recognized as an experienced politician, having worked in various diplomatic roles since 2000.
The appointment of a special representative for Afghanistan comes at a time when political, economic, and trade relations between Astana and Kabul have been growing significantly over the past four years.
