KABUL: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a telephone conversation with Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani described the recent attack as a response to the United States.
Pezeshkian reiterated Iran’s commitment to defending its rights and requested Qatari side that the attack be characterized as a reaction to U.S. actions.
In response, the Amir of Qatar stated that the Al Udeid base would never be used against Iran.
Previously, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs had announced the summoning of Iran’s ambassador, Ali Saleh Abadi, in Doha.
Sources reported that Abadi was summoned in reaction to Iran’s strike on the Al Udeid base and was informed that the attack violated the principles of Qatar-Iran relations.
