KABUL: About 15 hours after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran launched a missile attack on the Al Udeid base in Qatar, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council.
Today the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a copy of the letter on its official X page.
In the letter, the Qatari government has requested Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, and Caroline Rodriguez-Berkett, the President of the Security Council, to consider the letter as an official document among the members of the Security Council.
The letter states, “The Qatari government is informing them of a ‘very dangerous escalation’ that constitutes a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, posing a direct threat to regional peace and security.”
It emphasizes that the Qatari government expresses its strongest condemnation of the attack, deeming it a “blatant violation of its sovereignty and airspace, as well as a breach of international law and the UN Charter.”
Doha has also asserted its right to respond to this attack within the framework of international law.
Meanwhile, both the Qatari and U.S. governments have previously reported intercepting the missiles launched by Iran.
