KABUL: Officials of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology have announced that 120,000 SIM cards have been distributed to returnee migrants in the past 19 days.
Inayatullah Alkozai, spokesperson for the ministry, in a statement on his X account said that the SIM cards have been provided free of charge at the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province to address the communication problems faced by returnee migrants.
Alkozai added that representatives from all telecommunications companies are currently active at the Islam Qala border crossing.
In the Islam Qala camp in Herat province, an average of up to 6,500 free SIM cards, which include internet access and free minutes, are distributed daily by various telecommunications companies to returnees from Iran.
This initiative comes as the services of the High Commission for Addressing Migrant Issues continue sustainably through its 12 committees in Herat province.
