Mawlavi Kabir: Neighboring countries should not forcefully expel Afghan refugees

KABUL: The Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, has met with Mohammad Reza Bahrami, an official from the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for South Asia, and Alireza Bigdeli, the Iranian Ambassador in Kabul.

According to a statement from the ministry, the discussions focused on Afghan refugees and the recent situation in the region.

Mr. Bahrami praised the Islamic Emirate’s stance on important issues concerning Iran.

“Significant progress has been made in trade between Kabul and Tehran, and high-ranking Iranian officials are expected to visit Kabul to secure further achievements,” the statement quoted Bahrami as saying.

He noted that Iranian officials have fulfilled their commitments regarding Afghan refugees and will continue to work with Kabul to resolve issues related to the illegal residency of Afghans in Iran.

On the other hand, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir urged the Iranian delegation to adopt a lenient approach towards Afghan refugees and prevent the loss of Afghans’ assets.

He emphasized that the issuance of work visas to Afghans by Iran is an important step and stated that the Islamic Emirate would present a plan to Tehran to address the challenges faced by remaining Afghans in Iran.
