170 Afghans released from prisons in Iraq and Pakistan

KABUL: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement today that 170 Afghan nationals were released from prisons in Iraq and Pakistan.

According to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, 148 individuals were released from Pakistani prisons, while 22 others were freed from Iraqi prisons, returning to Afghanistan yesterday (Friday).

The statement indicated that each of the Afghan citizens spent two months in detention in Pakistan and seven months in Iraq.

The released individuals entered the country through the Silk Road crossing in Nimroz province and the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar.

Upon their arrival, the Afghan citizens were registered and documented, and they received necessary assistance before being transferred to their home areas.

Efforts are underway to release Afghan nationals from prisons around the world.
