ICC calls martyrdom of three Afghan cricketers “shocking” and strongly condemns it

KABUL: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has described the martyrdom of three young Afghan cricketers in Pakistani airstrike in Paktika as “tragic and shocking” and condemned it in the strongest possible terms.

In an official statement, the ICC reacted to the airstrike by the Pakistani military regime, which also resulted in the deaths of several other civilians.

The council expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of “Kabir Agha, Sibghatullah, and Haroon,” three young cricketers from Afghanistan.

Part of the statement reads: “The ICC strongly condemns this violent act, which has deprived families, communities, and the cricketing world of three bright talents whose only dream was to play the sport they loved.”

The ICC expressed its condolences and solidarity with the Afghanistan Cricket Board, stating that it shares in this sorrow.

The airstrike by the Pakistani military on civilians and cricketers in Paktika has previously elicited reactions both domestically and internationally.
