KABUL: The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, has had a telephone conversation with Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, discussing bilateral relations and Pakistan’s violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
According to a statement from the Arg, the Prime Minister expressed the principled stance of the Islamic Emirate, stating that Afghanistan does not support war.
He indicated that the Pakistani military regime was the initial aggressor by violating Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
The statement quoted Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund as saying: “Negotiations are ongoing in Doha with the Pakistani side, led by the Minister of National Defense, and we are respectfully awaiting the results of these discussions.”
The sources noted that the Malaysian Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the initiation of talks between Afghanistan and Pakistan following the recent tensions and emphasized the need for diplomatic solutions to the issue.
Dato’ Mohammad Anwar Ibrahim, while stressing the importance of dialogue and resolving the issue, also indicated his readiness to offer assistance.
