Over 50 Arrested for “illegal crossing” into Iran from Afghanistan in Herat

HERAT: The 207th Al-Farooq Army Corps has announced that 53 individuals have been arrested on charges of border violations (illegal crossing from Afghanistan to Iran) in Herat province.

In a statement on Saturday night, the Army Corps said that members of the corps stationed in Herat, detained these individuals who were attempting to illegally enter Iran.

The statement noted that this action was taken to ensure border security, prevent human trafficking, and maintain order in border areas.

This comes in the wake of over 200 individuals being arrested last week on similar charges of crossing illegally from Afghanistan into Iran in border areas between the two countries by Afghan security forces.
