Fifth round of OIC Water Ministers’ meeting begins in Jeddah

KABUL: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has announced that the fifth round of the Water Ministers’ Meeting of member countries is being held with Saudi Arabia chairmanship from October 20 to 22 in Jeddah.

In a statement, the organization noted that the fifth round of the OIC Water Ministers’ Meeting is themed “From Perspective to Impact” and will continue for three days.

The meeting aims to seek solutions from Islamic countries to address water crises, including “drought, pollution, and water resource scarcity.”

Experts from OIC member countries are expected to discuss and deliberate on topics such as “water security, sustainable water resource management, innovation, investment, and scientific and technical cooperation.”

This meeting comes at a time when climate change, drought, and the water crisis it precipitates have become one of the major global challenges.
