KABUL: Upon the arrival of the U-17 national futsal team, crowned “Asian Futsal Champions,” they were warmly welcomed by government officials and hundreds of sports enthusiasts.
The team returned to the country this morning with medals and the title of Asian futsal champions.
The leadership of the National Olympic, Physical Education, and Sports Authority, along with the Football Federation, greeted the futsal players at Kabul International Airport, where hundreds more embraced them at the airport junction.
Images shared on social media show residents of the capital, Kabul, welcoming the team with large convoys from various sectors.
Citizens gathered in cars, on motorcycles, on foot, and with bouquets to celebrate the athletes and medalists who have made history by bringing Afghanistan its first Asian championship.
It is noteworthy that the U-17 national futsal team achieved this victory with five unbeaten wins in the group stages, semifinals, and finals of the Asian U-17 futsal championship.
This achievement has created an unprecedented wave of joy and smiles among the citizens of the country.
