KABUL: The foundation stone for the construction of the Kandahar Textile Industrial Park was laid by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce said in a statement today.
According to the statement, the construction of internal roads and drainage systems within the park, valued at 28 million Afghani, is part of this project.
The Kandahar Textile Industrial Park is planned to cover an area of 1,000 jeribs (about 500 acres) and currently includes land allocated to various industrial companies.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has described the establishment of the Kandahar Textile Industrial Park as a significant step toward strengthening the industrial sector, attracting investment, and advancing the regional economy.
Kandahar province, located in the south of the country, is one of the five largest provinces in Afghanistan and a key strategic province.
