KABUL: Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, attended and spoke at the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) meeting held in Turkey.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced today, that Minister Azizi highlighted Afghanistan’s significant role and geographic position as a regional transit hub, affirming Kabul’s readiness for more proactive cooperation in trade and transit projects.
During the meeting, members approved a strategic roadmap for amending the ECOTA agreements, finalizing trade facilitation agreements, establishing a framework for free trade agreements (FTA) among member countries, and outlined a 10-year development vision for ECO from 2026 to 2036, thereby defining the future economic and trade pathway for the organization.
The statement noted that Afghanistan garnered support from member countries to promote trade, facilitate transit, and attract foreign investments, all crucial for economic growth and enhancing regional cooperation.
Before the meeting, technical experts from the member countries engaged in extensive discussions regarding customs facilities, trade, investment, and the amendment of trade agreements.
ECO is an organization dedicated to economic and trade cooperation among regional countries.
