Muttaqi, Turkmenistan FM hold virtual talks on cooperation

KABUL: Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi held a video conference with Rashid Meredov, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan.

The Afghan Embassy in Turkmenistan said that during a video call, both sides exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations, regional cooperation, and joint programs for the current Gregorian year.

Minister Muttaqi described the progress in relations between the two countries as positive, highlighting that, as a result of strengthened meaningful ties between the Islamic Emirate and Turkmenistan, the practical work on the TAPI project has begun along the Herat route.

He mentioned that the implementation of the railway project and the TAPI project is on the verge of commencement, with ongoing development in relations between the two countries.

On the other hand, Rashid Meredov referred to the historical and friendly relations between the two nations, expressing satisfaction with the expansion of ties at various levels and emphasizing the organized implementation of joint economic projects, visits by high-level officials, and upcoming joint programs.

It is noteworthy that the Foreign Ministers of both countries considered strengthening regional cooperation and dialogue, especially between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, to be important and valuable.
