Afghan, Turkmen officials assess Torghundi port and regional projects

KABUL: Minister of Mines and Petroleum, Mullah Hidayatullah Badri, along with Herat Governor Shaikh Noor Ahmad Islamjar, during an official visit to the Turghundi port, was warmly welcomed by Rashid Meredov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and other high-ranking Turkmen officials at the port.

Hamayun Afghan spokesman of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum in a statement told Radio Omid that Afghan and Turkmen representatives assessed the ongoing developmental activities at Torghundi Port.

They discussed ways to enhance the port’s capacity, improve transit facilities, and strengthen trade relations between the two countries.

Afghan also mentioned that both sides reviewed the current status of the TAPI project in Herat province, with project officials providing updates on progress and future phases.

Mullah Hidayatullah Badri described the TAPI project as a significant economic initiative for the region and emphasized the importance of advancing the work in accordance with the established timeline and high standards.
