KABUL: The police personnel of Herat province during various operations have discovered and seized a quantity of weapons and ammunition in the province.
According to a statement from the media office of the Herat Police Command today, the seized items include 6 Kalashnikovs, 13 handguns, 2 five-piece firearms, 4 hunting rifles, one mine detector, over 50 rounds of PK machine gun ammunition, nearly 40 pistol bullets, and various other military items.
The Herat police stated that the weapons and ammunition were found in the Kahsan district of the province.
The report did not mention whether any individuals or groups have been arrested in connection with the case.
Efforts are underway by defense and security forces to collect illegal weapons, ammunition, and military equipment from individuals and groups.
