Saudi Arabia: We hope for an end to tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan

KABUL: The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed hope for an end to tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan in response to the ceasefire agreement between the two countries.
In a statement released on Sunday night, the ministry affirmed its support for all international efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.
The statement reads: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses its support for all regional and international efforts to enhance peace and stability and emphasizes its continued commitment to ensuring security in a way that achieves stability and prosperity for the brotherly peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
Saudi Arabia’s expression of hope comes as high-level talks between delegations from Afghanistan and Pakistan are set to take place in Istanbul, Turkey, in five days.
The ceasefire agreement between Afghanistan and Pakistan has so far been welcomed by several countries in the region.
