KABUL: Ukrainian security forces have reported that the country’s drones attacked a major oil terminal in the Russian port city of Novorossiysk today, causing significant damage to various facilities.
According to Russian Telegram channels and local officials, the attack targeted the “Sheshkhara” oil complex, a critical point in the state company Transneft’s pipeline network and an important part of Russia’s major export terminals.
Authorities stated that many coastal facilities at the terminal were damaged.
Reuters, citing industrial sources, reported that following the attack, Russia temporarily suspended approximately 2.2 million barrels of oil exports per day, a volume that constitutes nearly 2% of the world’s oil supply.
Additionally, the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported that a civilian vessel in the port was also targeted in the attacks, resulting in three crew members being injured.
