KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has announced that following a “very constructive” meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, an agreement has been reached regarding a framework for the future of Greenland.
Trump shared details of the agreement and constructive dialogue via his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday night.
He stated that following this agreement, he has decided not to impose tariffs on goods from several European countries, which were set to take effect after February 1 (in less than ten days).
He wrote, “Based on a very constructive meeting I had with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, we have shaped the framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland and indeed the entire Arctic region. This solution, once finalized, will be a significant achievement for the United States and all NATO member countries.”
Trump mentioned that further discussions will be held regarding the “Golden Dome” in connection with Greenland.
According to Trump, his Vice President, JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Middle East Representative Steve Daines, and several other key figures will be responsible for these negotiations if necessary.
The meeting between Trump and Stoltenberg took place on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
This development comes after Trump’s previous proposal to acquire Greenland, which had placed the U.S. and Europe in an unprecedented confrontation.
