Construction work on Agricultural Market worth $150 million Afghanis begins in Farah

FARAH: Construction work has begun on a new agricultural market in Farah province, with an estimated cost of 150 million Afghanis, local authorities said.

The project was launched in the presence of Mullah Mohammad Hafiz Mujahid, the provincial governor, according to a statement from his office.

The market will be built on 35 jeribs of land and include 230 shops, aimed at improving the collection and export of agricultural products.

Zalmai Mohammadi, head of the province’s agriculture and livestock production chamber, said the project would help ease congestion and enhance trade efficiency, adding that the construction costs are being funded by local traders and farmers.

The plan also includes building a mosque on a 400-square-meter area adjacent to the market.

Farah, a border province, relies heavily on agriculture and horticulture as key sources of livelihood.
