KABUL: Speaking in a press conference today at the Government Media and Information Center (GMIC), spokesman of the Ministry of Interior Affairs Abdul Mateen Qani said that in the past six months, 8,747 criminal cases have been recorded.
According to him, 7,233 of the recorded cases have been dealt with and 1,525 incidents are under investigation.
“12,540 individuals have been arrested by the police in connection with criminal cases and 172 others in connection with kidnapping cases,” Qani said adding, 21 kidnappers have been killed in the clash with Afghan security forces.
In the last six months, during the counter-narcotic operation of the police personnel of the ministry over 377 drug processing labs have been destroyed and 3,645 hectares of poppy land have been eliminated across the country, according to him.
In the near future, three passport distribution zones will be established in Kabul, said Qani adding that the capacity of passport production from 5 thousand has increased to 10 thousand per day.
He further added that in the past six months, over 837,000 passports have been distributed throughout the country.
