KABUL: The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement that the Afghan National Islamic Army has rescued the lives and properties of a number of our compatriots stranded in floods in Helmand and Farah provinces.
According to the ministry, the occupants of a passenger bus and a trailer-type cargo truck stranded in floods in the Bekwa district of Farah province, along the Kandahar-Herat highway and a number of our compatriots who were stranded in Gereshk district of Helmand province were rescued by the personnel of the ministry.
In addition to defending and safeguarding the territorial integrity of the country, personnel of the Afghan National Army also extend their assistance to the people in difficult situations.
This comes, as a result of recent flooding in several provinces, especially in the southern provinces, including the Kandahar-Herat highway, where roads were blocked to traffic.
