National Arghawan festival held in Parwan

CHARIKAR: The traditional festival of Gul-e-Arghawan was opened in the Gulghundi Hill in the country’s northern province of Parwan, yesterday with the participation of IEA officials, writers, poets, mujahidin and some other people.

Appreciating Parwan’s provincial information and culture for paying attention to cultural affairs, the Deputy Minister of Art and Culture of Information and Culture Mawlavi Atiqullah Azizi said that the Gul-e-Arghawan (Purple Flower) Festival is one of the traditional and valuable festivals of the country, which has been celebrating since long time.

The Ministry of Information and Culture is trying to expand the ancient and touristic areas of the country and efforts are underway to identify these areas, he said.

Speaking about the importance and beauty of the purple flower, the deputy governor of Parwan, Mufti Mohammad Idris Anwari said: “Gulghundi is the name associated with hills and purple, and this area is considered to be one of the natural and historical regions of Parwan, which has a special beauty.”

Meanwhile, the acting Deputy Minister for Publication Affairs of Information and Culture and Director of Bakhtar News Agency, Mawlavi Zia-ul-Haq Haqmal, said that celebrating such festival brings brotherhood, unity, and cultural development and enriches the historical identity of the countrymen.

 “The Islamic Emirate is working on plans for the unity between the brotherly tribes, elimination of ethnic prejudices, and the development of the country, as we are witnessing it,” he said.

Every year, the traditional festival of Gul-e-Arghawan will be held with the blooming of the purple flower and with poetry and performances.
