KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. special representative for Afghanistan, has met with Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi to discuss ways to expand relations between Afghanistan and the United States.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on the current situation in Afghanistan, existing opportunities, and ways to expand relations between Kabul and Washington.
Muttaqi said Afghanistan has made progress in stability, security, economic growth, and self-reliance, adding that the country now offers a favorable environment for investment.
Khalilzad described the current security and stability in Afghanistan, as well as progress in reconstruction, as commendable. He also stressed the importance of expanding relations and promoting constructive engagement between Kabul and Washington.
